Gucci makes its maiden foray into fine watchmaking with an ultra-slim range endowed with the grand complication of a tourbillon

Italian fashion house Gucci is taking a step into fine watchmaking with its first series of watches endowed with the brand's first in-house movement.

Developed at Kering's La Chaux-de-Fonds manufacture in Switzerland, the GG727.25 calibre makes its debut in the Gucci 25H collection that, impressively enough, includes tourbillon versions in platinum and yellow gold.

The collection's name has been coined by Gucci's creative director Alessandro Michele. The number 25 is his favourite, and he features it frequently in his fashion collections.

The movement's name also contains symbolic numerals: '2' for balance, '5' for curiosity and freedom, and '7' for a sense of completeness. The automatic movement measures 3.70 mm in height, which is housed in an ultra-slim case with sleek finishes.
