With its Hong Kong-based 2019 Novelties Exhibition, Hublot combines the past, present and future

The centuries-old traditions that define Swiss watchmaking are, in many ways, a world apart from the modern innovations that are championed today, however watchmaker Hublot has always strived to create novelties that go against the expected.

This year is no exception, with numerous Hublot models created in collaboration with key players from different industries. To celebrate these various associations, Hublot recently hosted the 2019 Novelties Exhibition in Hong Kong’s Kong Art Space, a contemporary art museum.

The exclusive event comprised of three themes: the past; the present; and the future. Meanwhile, the latest manifestation of Hublot Loves Art (the name given to Hublot's artistic partnerships) was hosted on the first floor of the three-floor museum.

Upon entering the space, guests were confronted by a spectacular Ferrari 488 GTB, in celebration of Scuderia Ferrari’s 90th anniversary. Information about both Ferrari and the Hublot timepieces it inspired were on display, including three limited-edition Big Bang Scuderia Ferrari 90th anniversary models.

By scanning a QR code, guests were invited to experience a specially-designed light show that highlighted Ferrari’s skill at design and mechanics.

Meanwhile, on the first floor at Hublot Loves Art, the maison’s latest models–crafted alongside tattooist Maxime Plescia-Büchi, as well as artists Richard Orlinski and Marc Ferrero–took pride of place.

Two versions of Big Bang One Click Marc Ferrero, which were unveiled earlier this year, were on display, as was the Classic Fusion Orlinski series.

The new Big Bang Sang Bleu II was also showcased, which channels the influence of world-famous tattoo artist Maxime Plescia-Büchi. With a quick scan on the QR code, a temporary tattoo designed by the creative was projected onto the wall for guests.

“Hublot is on fire this year. On one hand, we are honoured to celebrate the 90th anniversary of our partner Ferrari. On the other hand, we take pleasure in working diligently with superb artists,” says Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot. “The exhibition presents one of the most spectacular collections from Hublot and I cordially invite everyone to experience the brand’s watchmaking world in person.”
