A true California girl, Patricia has a love for sunshine, exploring the great outdoors and taking care of your body—so much so that she's turned her passion into a career with her chic ski and lifestyle brand, Ferastyle. We caught up with the energetic entrepreneur to talk about keeping things simple and natural:

Tell us a bit about you and what you do.

I was born in California to parents who were Shanghai-born and raised. I grew up in SoCal until I went to university on the US East Coast. I went into investment banking upon graduation in New York and Hong Kong, which is where I have lived ever since.

During that time I’ve developed businesses in the cinema, ticketing and Internet media sectors before joining the winter apparel company my mom founded, Ferastyle. I create clothing for active winter sports and travel…I am also a mom with three sons and wife of a boyish-looking husband.

What are you most passionate about?

Besides clothing, I am very into wellness, fitness and personalised health and nutrition.

What makes you smile?

Being around people I love... and my dog.

Someone you look up to?

Strong capable women who can balance it all—business, family, community, friends.

The one thing you can’t live without?

Family; both immediate and extended. They give me a lot of joy, inspiration and laughs.  And sunshine—oops, that’s two things.

On the flip side, what is one thing you could do or have less of in order to improve your life?

Less screen time for both myself and the people around me would make life better—more living in the present and spending quality time together.

How do you find balance in busy Hong Kong?

I must do outdoor activities like swimming, wake-surfing, walking, hiking, biking. I am a city girl but love feeling connected to nature, which is why Hong Kong is my favourite place.

What are some of your self-care rituals (when it comes to beauty & skincare)?

A bi-weekly Epsom salt bath and infrared sauna. Hydrating sheet masks. Grapeseed, avocado or coconut body oils.

How do you spend your free time?

Besides exercise, taking my youngest son and dog for exploratory walks and hikes. Occasionally gluten-free baking when inspired.

Why do you believe it’s important to take some time out for yourself?

If one doesn’t feel a sense of personal well-being, it’s hard to be there for other people.

What are some of the simple things in life that you enjoy?

Reading novels. Local hole-in-the-wall but delicious food places. Road trips. Sunsets and seasides.

What does the term “less is more” mean to you?

It means don’t complicate your life with stuff and excess. Minimalism is beautiful. Keep things simple and natural.
