Le Café V will open next month in the latest Louis Vuitton flagship boutique.

In a rather unprecedented move, Louis Vuitton has announced it will be opening its first ever café and restaurant next month at its new flagship store in Osaka, Japan.

According to WWD, Le Café V will be set on the top floor of Louis Vuitton’s new four storey flagship and will be run by Japanese chef Yosuke Suga, who currently runs the coveted Sugalabo in Tokyo. The café will include a sprawling outdoor terrace as well as a bar.

In terms of aesthetics, Le Café V will see a subdued Art Deco-inspired palette of black and grey juxtaposed with bold pops of gold and yellow. Next to the bar will feature a private dining space, Sugalabo V, which will mirror Chef Suga’s Tokyo-based Sugalabo. The intimate space will include a long center bar that will allow for exclusive guests to watch the chef prepare their dinner.

Don’t expect to find monogram-emblazoned macarons or branded visual art anywhere in the space. Unlike the Fendi Caffé in London, which is monogrammed with the Italian label’s logo throughout, the only sign of Louis Vuitton in Le Café V will be monogrammed on its tableware. Tokujin Yoshioka, who has designed for Louis Vuitton in the past, has designed a collection of simple plates specifically for use in the restaurant.

The news of the restaurant and bar was confirmed by Michael Burke, chairman and CEO of Louis Vuitton, who also teased that the French fashion house may eventually expand into even more restaurants and potentially even move into hotel properties.

“We think the so-called experiential luxury is something that will be important in the future,” Jean-Jacques Guiony, chief financial officer of LVMH, added in a previous statement.

Louis Vuitton Maison Osaka Midosuji will occupy a new building designed by architect Jun Aoki and will open early next month, with Le Café V opening by February 15.
