Inside Loupe: Chow Tai Fook's Chic Incubator For Jewellery Designers
The latest collaborative project between Chow Tai Fook Jewellery and the Chow Tai Fook Art Foundation is Loupe; a Hong Kong-based incubator for aspiring jewellery designers.
Offering support and resources to both local and international talent, Loupe was designed to be a nurturing environment for creative minds as well as a space that brings the jewellery designing community together; a catalyst for collaboration between designers, artisans and the public at large.
“I am happy to present Loupe—a communal space for the public to become familiar with jewellery-making. It is a platform for designers to share their creations, and to express their creative passion,” said Kent Wong, managing director of Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group.
The core components of Loupe include a mentorship programme, which provides professional guidance and a fully-equipped workshop to budding designers. There are also educational activities, including jewellery workshops for all ages and a boutique where designers-in-residence can showcase and sell their creations.
Finally, Loupe will also be home to a charming teahouse that serves premium teas, artisanal cocktails, and delicate cakes inspired by jewellery design.
Workshops include a series called GIA GemKids, specifically designed to offer fun, educational jewellery-themed experiences for kids. There are also specialised jewellery-making classes, where patrons can learn to make their own unique pieces. This Sunday's "Sound of Music" workshop, for example, teaches guests how to make elegant music note-shaped charms.
“In the spirit of mentorship that is the foundation of Chow Tai Fook, the Design Residency Programme showcases the talents of emerging designers from HK and overseas, including Japan, France and Chile," says Wong. "All in all, we seek to inspire people through the art of jewellery, and to nurture the next generation of designers and artisans with Loupe."
Loupe is located in PMQ, H410, Block B, 35 Aberdeen Street, Central, Hong Kong, +852 2623 2272, find out more at pmq.org.hk
