JW Marriott Ballroom unveils a HK$64 million makeover—the largest pillar-free ballroom on Hong Kong Island
JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong Focus
Throwing a Hong Kong wedding usually means finding the perfect venue to host hundreds of friends, family and coworkers—quite the challenge in space-starved Hong Kong. Enter the JW Marriott Ballroom, which just emerged from a transformative HK$64 million facelift. As the largest pillar-free ballroom on Hong Kong Island, this 8,142-square-feet, champagne-hued space has been kitted out with a slew of luxurious details.
You can be among the first to experience the massive space at the hotel’s annual Luxury Wedding Showcase on Sunday, January 14 from noon to 6pm. The event provides an introduction to the space and cuisine, but that’s not the only surprise in store. Couples who use a designated DBS credit card to book the JW Marriott Ballroom during the Luxury Wedding Showcase will enjoy a few additional perks, such as HK$3,000-5,000 JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong dining gift card.
Better yet, JW Marriott is also giving away nearly HK$150,000 worth of lucky draw prizes. Get excited for honeymoon stays in Paris, Okinawa and Phuket (including a four-night stay at Paris Marriott Champs Elysees Hotel & Qatar Airways economy plus flights), HK$10,000 voucher from Private-i, HK$5,000 coupons to spend at Kee Wah Bakery, and a special Glycel travel beauty gift set (worth HK$1,050). And one lucky bride will walk home with a sexy Oscar de la Renta clutch worth HK$12,000. Win or lose, you can rest easy knowing you’ve found your dream wedding venue.
Among the highlights of the Wedding Showcase, Harvey Nichols will present an evening gown fashion show featuring all the accoutrements, from fine jewellery to haute-couture footwear. Brides will also have the chance to browse wedding looks from fashion designer Noel Chu, one of Hong Kong’s top designers who handcrafts custom dresses for the city’s VIPs. Trinity Bridal, meanwhile, will showcase haute couture designers such as Oscar de la Renta, Galia Lahav and Elie Saab. And for the gents? MODE Tuxedo promises handsome ensembles to outfit the city’s most fashionable fiancés.
Obviously, restaurant-quality food is a crucial component for an unforgettable wedding day. At the showcase, the JW Marriott’s Head Chef Pieter Fitz-Dreyer, Executive Chinese Chef Jayson Tang, and Senior Pastry Chef Jason Ho will present “A Taste of JW Wedding,” featuring a mix of western and Chinese dishes, canapés, and desserts—topped off with a free-flow of Moët & Chandon Champagne.
What’s on the menu? Expect a sampling of what’s possible, including a taste of Portuguese-style sea whelk and Alaskan crab with cheese and lobster sauce. The wedding menu demonstration finishes on a sweet note with charming bride-and-groom cupcakes (coffee and chocolate for the grooms; berries for the brides) that beg to be photographed. Of course, every JW Marriott celebration is unique and couples can work with the culinary team to design bespoke menus.
Accommodating up to 56 banquet tables (672 guests sitting; 1,100 standing), the JW Marriott Ballroom is a happy marriage of classic and contemporary: couples will fall head over heels for the 4.6-metre-high ceilings, cutting-edge lighting, high-definition LED wall, audio-visual technology, and sparkling chandeliers designed by respected light artist Jan Pauwels.
Free to the public, the Luxury Wedding Showcase will welcome a long list of world-class vendors, from gown designers to decoration specialists, jewellers, photographers, and bridal consultants. Celebrity makeup artist Annie G. Chan will provide hair and makeup demonstrations, while the JW Marriott culinary team presents a sampling of its gourmet creations.
The annual Luxury Wedding Showcase will be held at JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong on Sunday, January 14 from noon to 6pm. For more information, visit the event page.
