The latest collaboration that has the fashion world talking is Balenciaga's exclusive capsule collection for Net-a-Porter and MR PORTER, marking the first time Balenciaga has collaborated on a dual women’s and men’s exclusive collection with a retailer.

"Balenciaga is one of the most exciting brands in luxury fashion,” says Alison Loehnis, president of Net-a-Porter and MR PORTER. “This project is a first of its kind.”

Designed by Georgian designer, Demna Gvasalia, the collection includes 53 pieces on Net-a-Porter, ranging from logo t-shirts and hoodies to dresses, along with some greatest hits, outerwear, denim and accessories. Their “Pantashoe” legging boots come in an exclusive cobalt blue with a chain print, while their "Knife" bootie and "Speed" sneaker are available in grey.

For men, the already-sold-out trainers, the "Triple S" and "Socksneakers", make a return in unique colourways, although we predict they won't stay in stock for long. Outerwear essentials such as a leather bikers, hoodies and denim jackets are also included.

Together with Balenciaga's campaign creators, photographer Johnny Dufort and stylist Lotta Volkova, the lookbook for the collection was shot in the online retailer's iconic London headquarters, and even features some of the staff as campaign models.

Gvasalia has garnered a cult-like following with his label, Vetements, and also proves he has his finger on the pulse with his designs for Balenciaga. He debuted his first collection for Fall 2016 with crystal-encrusted turtlenecks under oversized puffer jackets, then came the brand’s logo t-shirts, which reignited the industry’s love for retro slogan tee’s.

To celebrate its partnership with Balenciaga, Net-a-Porter has asked influencers around the world to style the collection in their own way, including Faye Tsui from Hong Kong, Yoyo Cao from Singapore, Xiao Bai from Shanghai, Berlin-based Peggy Gou and Sydney-based Carmen Hamilton.

Stylist Faye Tsui swears by Balenciaga denim pieces, stating, “I love their jackets and high waist jeans.”

As for what makes Balenciaga special? “You see a lot of things that come down the runway of fashion shows that aren’t exactly the same as the commercial pieces,” Faye explains. “What you see on the runway at Balenciaga is exactly what you see in store, and they're all pieces you can envision yourself wearing day to day.”

Singapore style icon, Yoyo Cao, makes a similar statement. “I have oversized blazers, jeans, t-shirts and lots of boots from Demna that I wear repeatedly,” she says. “I’m a huge fan of Demna Gvasalia’s Balenciaga.”

As for the items that top her wishlist for this collaboration? "The sock trainers, they're comfortable to boot and while the colourway isn't your typical black and white, they're still incredibly versatile."
