The world’s second-largest rough diamond is unveiled, Cindy Chao reaches yet another milestone, and Dior Joaillerie puts pen to paper

1. Cindy Chao The Art Jewel

Taiwanese jeweller Cindy Chao, who is celebrating her company’s 15th anniversary this year, has had her 2008 Black Label Masterpiece I Ruby Butterfly Brooch inducted into the permanent collection of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.

2. Louis Vuitton

Louis Vuitton has unveiled its latest purchase: the world’s second-largest rough diamond, Sewelô. About the size of a tennis ball, the 1,785-carat blackened stone is the largest rough diamond ever found in Botswana and recently made its international debut at the brand’s Place Vendôme store in Paris.

Paying tribute to the late American artist Cy Twombly’s swirling calligraphy, Graff’s high jewellery collection Inspired by Twombly features glittering loops of diamonds that are handset by the maison’s master craftsmen and women.

4. Van Cleef & Arpels

Frivole is a series dedicated to spring flowers, which Van Cleef & Arpels has expanded with a fresh crop of blossomy designs. Elegant and understated, eight new asymmetrical creations are offered with superimposed petals of polished gold.

5. De Beers

6. Bulgari

Made in collaboration with the ruling United Arab Emirates royal family, Bulgari’s latest high jewellery collection, Jannah, is inspired by the five-petal flowers found on the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque’s marble ceilings.

7. John Hardy

Inspired by the brand’s Balinese roots, John Hardy’s spring collection celebrates Tahitian pearls, meandering chains and the majestic Indonesian Naga dragon. Stack slithers of silver and diamond-drenched yellow gold for maximum impact.

8. Dior Joaillerie

A stunning homage to Dior Joaillerie’s talented creative director, The A to Z of Victoire de Castellane (published by Rizzoli) hits shelves on April 21 and includes hundreds of photographs and illustrations of the French house’s most exquisite jewellery creations.
