One of Hong Kong's biggest watch collectors and the current head of the Greater China mission of the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie, Carson Chan wasn't always into watches. Back when he lived in Los Angeles, he was actually a car fanatic, spending hours bent over the hood of his Porsche obsessing over its mechanics.

Since returning to Hong Kong in the late 1990s, he's shifted his focus to a different set of mechanics: the gears and cogs of mechanical watches. While he still drives like the wind these days, he's amassed an enviable and diverse collection of finely made timepieces from Omega, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Panerai and Breitling, as well from more avant garde brands like Ressence, Hautlence and H. Moser (just to name a few).

In our latest edition of Ones To Watch, he talks to us about how he got into watch collecting, and shares a word of advice to those who plan to start.
