We head to 10/10 Space in Causeway Bay to test out the Rodial Sculpt facial

Eve Lom; Rodial; Malin + Goetz; Omorovicza: if these names are familiar to you, then you’re probably a beauty junkie, much like us. If they do not ring a bell at all, then it’s time you step into 10/10 Space on Paterson Street, and be introduced to the world of high-end beauty products and treatments.

10/10 Space is officially still in soft-opening, but it is still pretty impressive. Not only does it stock these premium beauty brands, but in most cases, they are also the distributor of these lines. In addition to retailing these products, 10/10 Space also offers therapists who have been sent to Eve Lom or Rodial to learn their whole menu of treatments, which are then brought to Hong Kong. So for example, while one Rodial treatment is also offered at W Hong Kong (the Freeze Time Facial), 10/10 offers the whole range.

For those who haven’t heard of it, Rodial is the latest it-brand in the world of beauty. Founded by former beauty writer Maria Hatzistefanis in 1999, it has celebrity fans such as Angelina Jolie (who naturally prefers the Dragon’s Blood, supposedly). Hey, if it’s good enough for Angelina, it’s good enough for us, so we also sign up for the Rodial Sculpt Facial, which incorporates the Rodial’s Dragon Blood range, as well the Glamoxy range.

Dragon Blood is not as scary as it sounds: rather than coming from some mythical animal, it is actually made from the red sap of the Dragon Blood tree, which grows in Yemen. Our 75-minute Sculpt facial, which is especially good for sensitive skin, includes the 5-minute facial, a peel that contains fruit enzymes, the better to eat away at dead skin. The mask also includes vegetable collagen, which helps exfoliation while soothing any irritation that may arise.

This is then followed by another cleanse with the Glamtox cleansing balm, and Dragon’s Blood Sculpting Gel. This is supposedly Angelina Jolie’s favourite product and includes ingredients such as Volufiline, which increases fatty deposits within the skin, leading to a plumper look. This is then usually followed by the Dragon’s Blood Hyaluronic Mask, which fights redness and provides hydration to the skin but what we like about 10/10 is that they are quite happy to customise the treatment. In our case, as our skin was not dry but had some uneven pigmentation, we were given the Skin Bleach Mask which “encourages pigmented cell renewal to correct skin tone”.

Throughout the treatment, administered ably by assistant manager Florence Davy, mists of the rose-scented Dragon’s Blood Hyaluronic Tonic was sprayed over us, which is recommended for those of us who have dry skin thanks to the constant assault of air-conditioning. We even bought a bottle to take back to the office to prepare for the coming winter and drying office heater.

10/10 Space is not large or opulent, it only has three treatment rooms. However, in terms of the service offered and the brands available, we are definitely glad that this new spa opened relatively close to our office. Look out for more reviews, as we’ll definitely be back soon!
