Inspired by romance, these high jewellery pieces will ensure that you feel like it's Valentine's day, everyday

1. It Begins With A Kiss With Boghossian

Kissing is an evocative word, conjuring up images of romantic weekends in Paris and Venice, youthful summer romances by the beach and the happiness of a well earned wedding anniversary. But while Boghossian is inspired by the delight that comes from a good kiss, the Kissing collection is actually based on an innovative technique that has changed the way we set stones.

Every piece from the collection is set in a minimal yet delicate design, giving more freedom to the gems and resulting in bold yet harmonious combinations of shapes and colours that dazzle.

2. Opposites Attract With Cartier

In Magnitude, Cartier brings together – with real creative panache – materials that were never meant to meet. And yet side-by-side they’re more dazzling than alone: diamonds allow rutilated quartz to sparkle; sapphires shine alongside matrix opal and emeralds gleam next to rock crystal. It is a dance between opacity and transparency.

Particularly notable is the Théia collection, the star of which is a necklace made of exquisite Colombian emeralds. Matched to faceted rock crystal, the cut of which is invisible to the naked eye, the emeralds are allowed to sparkle even more brilliantly than they usually do.

3. Seeing Red With Chopard

Chopard jewellery is a regular guest at the world’s most glamorous events, famous for its red carpet credentials and wedding-worthy pieces. Which is why it is no surprise that co-president and artistic director of the maison Caroline Scheufele has chosen love, and the passion that comes with it, as the theme for her red carpet collection.

Because the greatest declarations of love are always accompanied by flowers, she designed a particularly beautiful set of rings and earrings in the form of astonishingly lifelike orchids, and made from entrancingly beautiful pink sapphires. No wedding would be complete without them.

4. Sweet Treats With Harry Winston

Harry Winston’s preoccupation with colour is pushed to the fore in the brand’s most recent collection, Winston Candy Box. A delightful symphony of saccharine shades, the series of one-of-a-kind cocktail rings sees generously proportioned mandarin garnets, pastel-hued sapphires, dazzling diamonds and rare tourmalines evoke the grandeur of a bygone era.

A particularly punchy piece sees a fiery 16.69-carat garnet centre stone surrounded by electric turquoise and diamonds – this is confectionary that commands attention.

Literary references abound in Van Cleef & Arpels’ latest collection, Romeo & Juliet. Heavily inspired by William Shakespeare’s most iconic romantic tragedy, the collection comprises more than 100 unique pieces, telling the story through different stone cuts, setting techniques and shades.

While the collection is also punctuated with the crystalline clarity of diamonds and green hue of Colombian emeralds. The Balcone clip, featuring emeralds, tsavorite garnets and diamonds, and inspired by the famous balcony scene, is a particular highlight.
