Ahead of her debut performance in Hong Kong at Landmark’s highly anticipated Boutique Boulevard, we speak with the singer and pop-culture icon about her love for music and fashion

Chart-topping star Rita Ora is set to be the headline performer at Landmark’s Boutique Boulevard’s opening gala next week, signalling the pop sensation’s first ever live performance in Hong Kong.

Praised for her eccentric and edgy style, the Poison singer embodies the best of music and fashion, a perfect fit for Landmark’s Boutique Boulevard, with 2015 set to be its biggest year yet with the one-night-only event extended into a 16 day extravaganza. The singer, actress, and style icon who also stars as a celebrity coach and judge on the latest series of The X Factor, is set to release her much awaited second album later this year.

Aside from the exciting prospect of visiting Hong Kong, Ora tells us about her love for fashion and how she cures her pre-performance jitters:

I’ve heard so much about the spirit and energy of Hong Kong, so I can’t wait to explore! I also hear great things about the food and shopping – two things I absolutley love, so I’m excited to explore and try lots of new things.

Other than my performance at Boutique Boulevard, I plan to investigate the city. I love performing – and look forward to performing somewhere new

Boutique Boulevard is one of Hong Kong’s most prestigious events geared towards some of the cities most stylish – I’m excited to see it! When I say see, I really mean to shop there! I love so many designers: Vera Wang, Marchesa, Versace, Tom Ford - I could go on for days.

Missing context? I can’t live without my mobile phone, my laptop, my Rimmel red lipstick, and my friends and family

Naturally, I get nervous before a performance. Frankly, I would be concerned if I didn’t. I’m anxious as I want to deliver my very best. I breathe deeply and warm up with my singers to calm my nerves and excitement. But as soon as I get on stage the nerves disappear – and I give it my all.

When it comes to my looks and getting dressed, I have the final say. I have to wear it and it is important that I feel comfortable. I work with my best friend and stylists, Kyle in the UK and Jason in the United States.

I love putting together items you don’t expect to see together – I like creating a contrast and tension in my look that’s almost unexpected. But I also love designer fashion, I go to markets like Portobello in London near where I grew up and find unique vintage pieces, fashion has actually been a passion of mine for a very long time.

My new album is coming soon and I’m excited for everyone to hear it. Its been such a great experience writing with various producers and incredible collaborators, so I’m excited for my fans to hear it

My words to live by – I guess the thoughts that run through my head before a performance, and its usually: “Get in there and give it your best.”
