With its unique quirks and exclusive perks, Lantau-based Tai O Heritage Hotel is one such option. Here are five reasons you should consider this 100-year-old heritage site for your big day:

Be a part of history

Housed in a colonial building outside of Tai O Fishing Village, Tai O Heritage Hotel was a police station built in 1902 to stop bandits from sailing into the village. Now a boutique hotel with only five rooms and four suites, it is an oasis of calm just beyond the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong.

Enjoy ocean views

The hotel can host weddings of up to 60 guests in its dining room—which is located in another colonial-style building adjacent to the main structure and comes with a glass roof and views of the ocean. This Hong Kong wedding venue offers a Western-style banquet with a four or five-course menu, featuring dishes like grilled salmon with dill and lobster bisque with black truffle.

Take a journey

The hotel can arrange for coach services to Tai O Fishing Village, after which it is a short ferry ride to the hotel. However, a great alternative is to make an event out of the journey and arrange a boat trip, complete with drinks and canapés, to pick up guests from somewhere in town and take them directly to the wedding venue.

Embrace local traditions

Tai O is a fishing village and a lot of the houses are on stilts. It has its own culture and traditions and the hotel can suggest ways you can incorporate it into your wedding—from traditional decorations such as bridal baskets and combs to local produce such as the mountain begonia herb, which the hotel infuses into its signature cheesecake and drinks.

Spend a night in luxurious comfort

The wedding packages include a night in one of the spacious suites to soak in more of the ocean views. The Sea Lion suite, for example, features a king bed, two bathrooms and contemporary décor done up in pastel shades. This Hong Kong wedding venue is remote, but don’t worry: there is wi-fi so you can update your Facebook status to “Married”.
