Valentino Is Launching A Makeup Line In August 2021
When you think of Valentino, one of the images you're sure conjure up is their signature colour: red. Now, this trademark colour is finally being encapsulated into a lipstick shade with the launch of Valentino's long-awaited make-up line.
We've even seen the brand's new ambassador, Son Ye-jin sporting sultry red lipstick on her DI.VAs campaign. With this upcoming launch, Creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli is going beyond the haute couture label and expanding its strong fragrance line.
The make-up collection is expected to put emphasis on inclusion, in line with what today's consumers are looking for. It will be open to all genders, ages and cultures and include a range of about 50 lipsticks and 40 foundations for every skin tone, along with various sets of experimental eye products. Though this shouldn't come as a surprise that Valentino has always been at the forefront, being the first fashion house to add menswear into couture.
"Beauty is democratic. I look at the identity of each individual, the uniqueness that encloses diversity and inclusivity. Beauty is about grace," says Piccioli. "Grace is something that you cannot describe, it is a perception. Beauty is something that gives me emotion. It is a connection. For make-up, my vision is Rosso Valentino 22, on a morphing of 16 people," he adds.
This means we can expect the make-up line to be bold, multi-functional yet individualistic at the same time. Piccolo adds that he conceived the make-up line as a "couture" for the face. We can also expect the collection to be representative as 16 non-models were used to bring it to life and represent the many faces of the Valentino brand.
The Valentino Beauty make-up collection will be unveiled on May 31 at Selfridges Department Store in London. Pre-orders begin on June 1 in the US while the worldwide launch starts from August 2021.
