The storied Italian luxury brand decamps to The Floating City for its haute couture fall/winter 2021 show this July

Valentino is heading to Venice to show its haute couture fall/winter 2021 show, the luxury brand announced today. Due to ongoing Covid-19 restrictions, it has opted to show in The City of Canals, instead of showing in Paris, as it has traditionally done in past years, or in Rome, as it did last season for spring/summer 2021.

It will also not be showing during Haute Couture Fashion Week, which runs from July 4 to 7, and will show on July 15, due to delays in production. “One the most challenging aspects of my work during these unprecedented times was the reprogramming of some of my recurrent thoughts, which of course included the concept and the place for my couture shows. The current “travel with your fantasy” mode we are in pushed me to dream harder and bigger,” explained Pierpaolo Piccioli.

Calling the decision to show in Venice a “natural decision”, Piccioli revealed that the house's upcoming haute couture FW21 show is titled Valentino Des Ateliers, a strong nod to the eponymous spaces where the magic of couture happens behind closed doors. “I have challenged myself in orchestrating a symphony of different souls, minds and creative inputs. All of these energies drove my vision to Venice,” he said. “This city genuinely and spontaneously generates vibrations on art, theatre, music, architecture, cinema, and everything that has to do with creativity.”

While the exact location has not yet been announced, we're already scoping out possible locations that could rival the grandeur of the Galleria Colonna, Sala Grande, in Rome, where it showed its haute couture SS21 show. On our list of possible locations: the Palazzo Ducale, the Palazzo Fortuny, the Scuola Grande di San Rocco, the Teatro La Fenice or even St Mark's Square—nothing would be too outré for the house of Valentino.

Stay tuned for the reveal of the location and collection.
