Red is an auspicious colour this festive season, and any of these wrist adornments can be your lucky charm in the Lunar New Year of the Dragon.
Red is considered auspicious and symbolises good luck, prosperity, and happiness in Chinese culture. In ancient times, it was believed to ward off evil because of its association with fire. During Chinese festivals and celebrations, especially during the Lunar New Year, red is prominently featured whether it is in the form of the ubiquitous red packets, decorative items around the house, or clothing.

Speaking of which, the following watch brands have new releases to accessories your festive ensemble as you usher in the Year of the Wood Dragon.
H. Moser & Cie. presents a new Streamliner Tourbillon in red gold, which is paired with a jade dial. A stone beloved by the Chinese, the jade that adorns the watch was obtained in Wyoming, USA, and untreated to retain its rich green tone. It is cut with CNC technology in a liquid environment to produce thin slices measuring only 1mm to 1.2mm. Limited to 100 pieces, the 40mm watch also features a one-minute flying tourbillon at ‘6’.
The new Urwerk UR-100V “Lighspeed” mines our fascination with science fiction and actual physics with a 3D planetarium featuring the Sun and the eight planets in our solar system. The purpose? To calculate and illustrate the time it takes for the ray of sun to reach each of the planets. For instance, it takes 8.3 minutes for a ray of sunlight to reach Earth while the same ray hits Jupiter 35 minutes later.
In the absence of traditional hands, time is indicated via a satellite system. A red arrow glides along a minute track at the bottom of the dial. The black carbon case is matched with a red textured rubber strap.
