The permanent managing director of family investment company Ruttonjee Estates Continuation, Purviz Shroff is an ardent philanthropist who supports numerous charities. She is the widow of Rusy, who she came to Hong Kong in the 1970s to marry; Rusy was the nephew of family patriarch Jehangir Hormusjee Ruttonjee, who came to Hong Kong in the 1890s.

With numerous business interests in the city, the family is perhaps best known for the Ruttonjee Hospital. The patron of Mother’s Choice, Purviz is also the vice-chair of the Hong Kong Tuberculosis, Chest and Heart Diseases Association, which was founded by her late husband’s uncle, while she has been responsible for numerous large charitable donations over the years, focusing on youth, elderly and medical services. She has also given her time to personally take care of babies through Mother’s Choice for more than a quarter of a century.

She is a prominent member of Hong Kong’s Indian community who has been the president of The Hong Kong Indian Women’s Club and was the recipient of the Excellence Award from The India Association of Hong Kong in 2014, as well as a Medal of Honour from the Hong Kong government in 2018.
