We ask Nars Cosmetics to bring you a simple six-step guide on how to perfect your sun-kissed look

Whether you like it or not, the summer season has arrived in Hong Kong, in our city, this translates to beach days, weekends out on the boat and long summer drives. And for those who are keen to get a bit of colour, this season is also the best opportunity to tan; after all a beautiful sun-kissed appearance makes the skin look fresh and healthy.

To complement your tan, we seek the help of international make-up artist Jake Broullard of Nars Cosmetics to help you enhance your summer glow with the help of a bit of make up, giving you the right steps and techniques to wear the tan right.

In the video above, we ask Broullard to break down the task into six simple steps:

Step 1: Apply foundation

Working the foundation outwards, apply moisturiser with the warmth of your hand all over the skin.

Step 2: Correct the skin with concealer

Perfect the skin using concealer applying this with a concealer brush where there are dark marks or uneven skin tone.

Tip: A pink shade will brighten up dark circles and dark marks.

Step 3: Create a glow and add texture

Using a small amount of face illuminator to blend in an upward motion to your cheeks towards your temple.

Step 4: Set your make up with loose powder

Using a brush, work the product into the skin, filling pores and lines.

Tip: Loose powder is especially helpful when setting your makeup in the heat.

Step 5: Add a bronzer to give the look warmth

Using a smaller brush and the bronzer, swirl the brush from under the cheekbone onto the temple for a natural definition. Add a hint of blush onto the apples of the cheeks.

Tip: Always bronzer to the neck.

Step 6: Give the look a finishing touch with mascara and lipsticks

Apply lipstick and gloss pencil to the lips, and finish with mascara before sculpting the lash line with black eyeliner.

In the second half of this two-part series, Broullard also sheds some light on the do’s and don’ts when getting your sun-kissed look. (Interview will be another standalone piece?)
