Everything Under One Roof: Roger Vivier

Here at Hong Kong Tatler, we are big fans of handwritten notes. Upon my arrival in Paris, I was greeted with a welcome card written by Ines de la Fressange herself, which was a delightful surprise. As an ambassador to the brand, she has worked closely with creative director Bruno Frisoni in the conception of the latest collection of shoes and accessories that checked all the right boxes for the upcoming season. Retro-inspired fringe boots and bags? Check. Graphic elements, namely paint splatter and star motifs? Check. Micro-studs for the less girly girl? Check.

Bohemian Beauties: Chloé

“Work for a cause, not for applause. Live life to express, not to impress. Don’t shine to make your presence noticed, just make your absence felt.” This beautiful message on the show notes set the tone for the Chloé show. You could tell that that’s exactly how Clare Waight Keller approached the FW15 collection; she went with her instincts and further illustrated her envisioned Chloé girl. The wonderfully flow-y sundresses from SS15 have evolved into something a bit more sophisticated. Lengths were kept long – everything from boho dresses to floor sweeping military coats. Even the soundtrack chosen for the show was worthy of a mention. How can you resist a blast from the past with Dreams by Fleetwood Mac?

Hot Fuzz: Sacai

Chitose Abe, the founder and designer of Sacai, is undisputedly off to a great start to 2015. With the opening of her first international freestanding story in Hong Kong last month (LINK: http://hk.asiatatler.com/luxury-news/joyce-opens-sacai-s-first-freestanding-store-in-hong-kong), and a global Nike collaboration that came out on March 19, it goes without saying that Sacai fans, particularly in this part of the world, are rejoicing. The latest collection was nothing short of amazing. Abe’s signature mash-up of playful proportions were seen on coats with oversized collars and exaggerated sleeves, while she also continued to refine her signature silk pleated dresses – this time with bold graphic chevrons.

Best in Show: Hermès

This was Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski’s first collection as the maison’s artistic director. Similar to her predecessors, she looked to the house’s heritage for inspiration – quilted equestrian blousons, knee-high boots in supple suede, and double-faced wool blanket coats. There was an overarching sense of purity when it came to the clothes – each piece is equal parts functional as it is stylish. Pierre Hardy’s fine jewellery designs from the Haute Bijouterie III Collection were also scattered throughout the collection, but most notably the Brides de Gala necklace on the last exit. To our surprise, there was very little emphasis placed on leather goods, but perhaps it’s because the bags practically sell themselves?

Petit Déjeuner at Brasserie Gabrielle: Chanel

Never one to disappoint when it comes to theatrics, Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld invited us to Brasserie Gabrielle for their FW15 show. Guests entered the venue through revolving doors, and the entire Grand Palais was transformed into a Parisian café. They had everything from the mosaic floors, mahogany wood bar, and even to the burgundy leather upholstered booths and stools. Waiters served much-needed coffee to the guests before the (10:00am) show. Models of the moment, Cara Delavigne and Kendall Jenner (they’re close friends, and share a hashtag #CaKe- a combination of the first two letters of each of their names) walked the show and even stayed on after to have a bite to eat.
