The much-anticipated "Oscars of watches" opened with a glittering cocktail reception at Galaxy Macau on October 15

On Tuesday, October 15th, watch aficionados and industry experts gathered at Galaxy Macau's East Square to toast to the opening of the most recent leg of the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) exhibition, which has been travelling around the globe prior to the upcoming awards ceremony in Geneva in November. Carlo Lamprecht, president of the GPHG Foundation, was joined by Carine Maillard, director of the GPHG Foundation, and Valérie Boscat, the head of communication and marketing at Edmond de Rothschild, GPHG’s prominent partner for the third year running. Edipresse Asia's CEO and Regional Group Publisher Barrie C. Goodridge, Edipresse Hong Kong and Macau's Managing Director Zita Ong, and Revolution magazine's editorial director Sean Li (who also represents China on the GPHG jury) were also present to celebrate the opening.

Guests who filtered through the hotel to the East Square atrium were greeted by an elegant space draped in thick black velvet, with a central circular bar serving fine wines and Perrier-Joüet champagne. After the opening remarks were made, the curtains around the room fell simultaneously to reveal the 60-plus watches selected for competition, in categories such as Ladies Watches, Jewellery, and the extraordinary Grand Complications.
