The sustainable shopping event will feature pre-loved luxury items from celebrity closets

In collaboration with Luxarity, the social initiative of the Lane Crawford Joyce Group aims to inspire and encourage responsible consumption among luxury consumers.

The sustainable pop-up will include a curated collection of preloved designer items, which have been donated by celebrities, fashion industry insiders and Lane Crawford prestigious customers, including singers Joey Yung and Charlene Choi, fashion designers Gabriela Hearst, Phillip Lim, Maggie Marilyn, and more.

Founded by Cristina Ventura, Chief Catalyst Officer of Lane Crawford Joyce Group, Luxarity started as a way to promote sustainability within the world of luxury fashion. “From the start, Luxarity has always been about minimising waste and maximising impact. We do this by creating a circular economy of preloved luxury items and directing the funds towards meaningful grants that support sustainability and responsible consumption. This year we are going one step further by using blockchain technology to bring more traceability, transparency, and innovation to the preloved ownership experience.”

This year also marks the launch of Luxarity's partnership with Lablaco, who will tokenize each item through blockchain, which will allow customers to scan the QR code to see who owned each item, where it was worn, a digitised handwritten note from the original owner, and what the environmental impact of the purchase would be.

“The fashion industry is starting an unprecedented redesign, from a linear disconnected and wasteful system to a circular and transparent ecosystem,” says Lablaco founders, Lorenzo Albrighi and Shih-Yun Kuo. “This is happening only thanks to collective action of people and companies uniting to reach common goals and we are thrilled to partnership with Luxarity to start measurable action together, moving towards a new generation of circular fashion system.”

Luxarity will also host a number of other events and pop-ups to raise awareness about sustainability and personal well-being. The Preloved Pop-Up 2019 will run from October 3 to October 20.
