The creative mind behind local brand Tangram shares her design inspirations from around the world

Half of the duo behind Hong Kong womenswear label Tangram, Paola Sinisterra has built up an intriguing collection of furnishings and fashion while satisfying her wanderlust. After moving from Spain to Hong Kong more than five years ago, Sinisterra and her husband, graphic designer and architect Ignacio Garcia, started their label of ready-to-wear clothing and accessories, which balance modern designs and wearable silhouettes with vintage-inspired graphics. Tangram counts lifestyle label G.O.D. and the porcelain-makers of Jingdezhen among its partners. Sinisterra herself embodies the spirit of Tangram and carefully crafts each design with a bold and often vintage-inspired print, usually referenced from the designer's ever-growing collection of fabrics and clothing, which are "all mementos of travels or gifts from friends."

"A close friend of mine, Emilie Sarnel, illustrated my husband, Ignacio, and me as animals in a portrait. It captures us accurately, and I love how her work is always irreverently colourful and culturally curious."

"I never leave the house or studio without a Moleskine notebook in my bag. I have a collection of over 20 books. I use them to sketch ideas and jot down notes."

"The prints used in this collection of Tangram are inspired by vintage clothing from my fabric library."

"There's nothing I love more than cooking and hosting dinners at home with my husband. Chinese cuisine is my favourite right now, and I love how food always brings people together."

"My signature scent is from Guerlain, the same fragrance my grandmother used when I was a child."

"I collect earrings and I have hundreds - from flea markets and vintage finds to family heirlooms from my mother."
