December is around the corner, which means the countdown to Christmas festivities has officially begun. Whether you’ve already started looking for Christmas present inspiration from our Tatler Christmas Gift Guides, or if you’ve just put in your order for this year’s Christmas tree, get into the festive spirit even more by stopping by one of the Christmas markets in town.

If Christmas carols, home-made gingerbread cookies while sipping on a warm cup of mulled wine sound like your kind of fun, read all about the best Christmas markets in Hong Kong for 2020.

1. Tatler x The Upper House Christmas Market (Cancelled)

Celebrate Christmas with Tatler this year by heading over to The Upper House on Sunday, December 19 for the Tatler x The Upper House Christmas Market. Bringing you the best luxury shopping experience at The Lawn, Upper House’s open-air space, followed by the best culinary experiences and other immersive fun at the Sky Lounge on the 49th floor. 

You’ll be able to shop from some of our favourite brands, including luxe dresses, jumpsuits and other clothing pieces from Emma Wallace; luxury food and beverage items from Fortnum & Mason as well as smart home fitness mirror from KARA Smart Fitness. After you’re done shopping, take a few selfies inside our custom Christmas Express Lift—a cosy knitted-out elevator decked out in Christmas cheer. 

When: Sunday, December 19, 2020, 10am to 6 pm

2. The Christmas Market at Landmark

Decked out in rows of Christmas trees and festive installations, Landmark’s pop-up market will transport you outside of Hong Kong and make you feel as though you’re in a magical Christmas town in Europe. 

Visitors will find booths from vendors selling everything from fine spirits, homeware to designer accessories and foodie hampers. If you’ve got a sweet tooth, pick up a few baked pastries from Amber’s Richard Ekkebus at LMO Freshly Baked such as the organic Amalfi lemon madeleine and rum-filled Canalés before you leave. To guarantee the freshness of each pastry, a different baked good is available each hour starting from 11am to 7pm. 

When: Open daily from November 2 to December 31, 2020, 11am-8pm

3. Honi Honi Christmas Pop-Up Market

Central’s favourite Hawaiian cocktail lounge, Honi Honi will be hosting a Christmas pop-up market for one day only. Bringing together lifestyle products and brands under one roof, you’d be able to shop for new homeware, eco-jewellery, candles and more from jewellery brand, Niin and boutique design store, Faux.

To carry on the spirit of giving, a portion of the proceeds from the market will be donated to Mother’s Choice to help children without families and pregnant teenagers in Hong Kong.

4. The Langham Christmas Market

Book yourself in for a festive staycation at The Langham, then make your way to The Langham Christmas market and shop for Christmas presents from local craftsmen.

A custom-designed tote bag from the Heep Hong Society booth will also be sold at the market, with all proceeds of the tote bag donated to children and youths in need. 

When: Every Saturday and Sunday, December 2 to December 27, 2020, from 12pm-8pm

5. K11 Musea Christmas Village

K11 Musea will be unveiling A Very MUSEA Christmas village this winter, bringing Globoscope, a site-specific immersive light showcase by Collectif Coin to the Bohemian Garden. Previously seen at Fête des Lumières de Lyon in 2014, guests can reserve a slot to share a private moment with loved ones.

Festive entertainment and dining from Santa Muse Parade by the Opera Theatre and a Christmas tea set at Artisan Lounge will also be available, providing shoppers with the best cultural, art and festive retail shopping experience as well as Christmas entertainment. Catch the golden hour at Sunken Plaza to watch one of their five outdoor Finnish movie showings before you head to dinner.

6. Fama’s Christmas Market

Famaland, formerly Sohofama, is now an immersive event space in PMQ for all things arts, dining, wellness and entertainment. Since the rebrand launch in February, the space has been hosting everything from immersive art exhibitions, bottomless dim sum, yoga classes and more. 

This December, they’ll be hosting a Christmas market in the event space—while there are limited details available at the moment, check the event page closer to the market weekend to learn more. 

When: December 12-13, 2020, 12-7pm

7. Discovery Bay Christmas Market

Weekend markets at Discovery Bay are back in session, which means you can expect to find Christmas plenty of festive goods as it gets closer to Christmas day. While stalls differ each week, expect to find handcrafted products, fair trade items, delicious treats and more.

8. Treasure Island Christmas Market

Grab the whole family and go on a day trip to Lantau for the Treasure Island Christmas Market Extravaganza. Adults can shop for food, wine and health products from artisans, designers and producers while the little ones can roam around and get a face-painting.

9. Stanley Plaza Christmas Market (Cancelled)

Stanley will be bringing back their annual Christmas market for two weekends this December. With more than 50 vendors bringing in festive crafts, gift options and delicious treats (including burgers from Honbo!), put on your best ugly Christmas sweater and make your way to the Stanley Christmas Market. 

Complimentary shuttle service between Stanley Plaza and Admiralty Centre will be available on December 12, 13, 19 and 20. To visit, visitors will have to pre-register from November 20 to apply for one of four daily sessions via Link's Park & Dine mobile app in order to maintain safe social distancing.Visiting Stanely on the day and want to swing by the market? A small quota is also available for on-site registration.

10. K11 Art Mall Weekend Market

K11 Art Mall will be hosting weekend markets over four weekends in December. Expect to find handmade accessories and handcrafted items such as unique soap from Bubble Rain, calligraphy cards from h.calligraphy.art, felt puppets, earrings and even tarot card readings from Angel Circle by Carlie

11. Murray Christmas Market

The Murray is decking the halls and turning the hotel into a winter wonderland with their series of Christmas activities and offerings. Try their Christmas afternoon tea or festive brunch, followed by a stroll around their Murray Christmas market

This ten-day only market will be filled with retail therapy options from homeware, pet supplies, pantry items to skincare products. Afterwards, book yourself in for a lush holiday treatment at their spa to look your best for Christmas day.
