Looking to upgrade to an all-electric car? These are the best EVs you can purchase in Hong Kong
Electric cars may be more expensive to buy than fuel-run vehicles––not to mention having to factor in charging––but they have plenty of upsides. Not only are they friendlier to the environment, but the running cost is a fraction of running a traditional diesel or petrol run vehicle. And although it’s taken Hong Kong a little longer to catch on to the electric vehicle game, the government is now fully behind the greener way of life, announcing a long term plan in early 2021 for the city to be carbon neutral by 2050 with fuel-propelled cars, including hybrid vehicles, phased out by 2035.
With this change, comes a new market in Hong Kong, with a range of models available, including some highly sought after names. From Tesla to Porsche, here are the best electric cars to buy in Hong Kong.

Tesla
The OG––you can’t consider an electric vehicle without the name Tesla crossing your mind at the very least. Every vehicle made by Elon Musk’s car giant is fully electric, paving a new road for many other manufacturers to follow suit.
Not only are the EVs eco-friendly and with safety ratings that score far above average, but the vehicles themselves are finished to sleek perfection, making them a highly sought after luxury commodity.
For 2021, Tesla adds even more performance to its flagship Model S. The new top-spec Plaid boasts 1020 horsepower from three onboard electric motors, and is said to be capable of zero-to-60-mph in 2.0 seconds. Tesla has also stated that the Plaid can provide up to 390 miles of driving range.
