Burberry Becomes The First Luxury Brand To Launch Face Masks
Burberry has become the first luxury fashion house to officially release reusable face masks. The heritage brand has this week announced its first-ever mask collection, which will retail for US$118 per mask.
The high end face masks will be sustainably produced from excess fabric from their cotton archival vintage check in both beige and pale blue colorways. The reusable design will also be enhanced with an antimicrobial technology and provide Particle Filtration Efficiency (PFE). Each mask will come with a small travel pouch in the same material as the mask to store it when not in use.
The British fashion house will also continue to support its commitment to the Burberry Foundation Covid-19 Community Fund by donating 20 percent of the selling price of each face mask to the organisation. First started in April of this year, the Burberry Foundation Covid-19 Community Fund aims to help health care professionals and other individuals who have been impacted by the pandemic globally as well as helping to fund vaccination research.
“We are delighted with Burberry's generous support for the University's research into a vaccine for Covid-19,” added University of Oxford’s Head of Medical Sciences, Professor Gavin Screaton in an earlier press release. “Burberry's gift is an example of forward-thinking corporate philanthropy that complements and bolsters government and other investment in Oxford’s leading global talent in this field.”
While the masks aren’t available for purchase just yet, they will be “coming soon” according to the product page. For more information on the vintage checks face masks or to take a closer look for yourself, be sure to visit the official Burberry website.
